As an explorer, Emil Holub fell short of the exacting standard set by men like Livingstone, Stanley and Baines.
His achievements as a writer, ethnographer, and collector, however, place him firmly among the great scientific
travellers of the 19th century.
This two volume set, is a facsimile reproduction of the 1881 edition, and documents Holubs travels and adventures
from the South African diamond fields, through to the Zambezi.
Published by the Africana Book Society, Johannesburg, 1975 & 1976.
425 & 473 pages respectively, both books are in an almost unread condition. The binding is tight and pages very
clean, no foxing, markings or inscriptions. The dustjackets are complete and in an equally good+ condition, although
bear the usual shelf-rubbing signs. (Kindly refer to the photographs).
An excellent two volume set, in a very well kept condition.
