Striking Spark model of the Shadow DN5 Formula One car from the 1975 Brazilian GP pole position driven by JP Jarier.
Dan Nichols (DN) and UOP (Universal Oil Products) had been entering cars in the American CanAm series when they tackled F1 in 1973 with the DN1.
The upgraded and revised DN5 finished on the podium twice, secured 3 pole positions, 2 fastest laps and was generally competitive but marred by poor reliability.
The DN5 was a typical mid-1970s F1 car with that wonderful and characterful tall airbox (why did they have to ban them??!); low shovel nose and high cockpit surround.
Finished in the sinister black UOP livery with flashes of colour and a big American flag atop the airbox, it was the most beguiling F1 car of the time. And this Spark model is a worthy addition to any F1 collection particularly for its visual appeal.
In as-new condition and supplied in the original box also perfect.
Imported and from my private collection. More interesting F1 cars to follow.
