Dimensions: Total height (including base): Approximately 33 centimeters (13 inches) Base width: Approximately 23 centimeters (9 inches) Base depth: Approximately 15 centimeters (6 inches) Weight: Approximately 3.6 kilograms (8 pounds) Description: This Shakyamuni Buddha statue is a masterful example of Nepali artistry, created through the time-honored lost wax casting method. The process begins with the creation of a detailed wax model, which is then encased in a ceramic mold. The molten wax is carefully melted out, leaving a precise cavity into which molten copper is poured. Once cooled, the ceramic mold is broken away, revealing the intricate copper statue. The statue depicts the historical Buddha in a serene meditative pose, holding an alms bowl in his lap and extending his right hand in the earth-touching mudra. The deep brown patina of the copper robes provides a striking contrast to the gold accents on the Buddha's face. The meticulous attention to detail in the robes, alms bowl, and facial features is a testament to the skill of the Nepalese artisans. The statue rests on a stable base with dimensions of approximately 23 centimeters by 15 centimeters.
