SHEAFFER FOUNTAIN PEN - made in Japan
A remarkable pen to own as a collector - simply because of it's history
Black with gold accents.
This pen is a "made in Japan" Sheaffer item from the late 70's - early 1980s and is a product of the Sheaffer / Sailor relationship. These "sailor sheaffers' sold in the US market too.
This pen is fashioned after the Sentinal and the Targa.
I have had this pen for +- 20 years. It was a gift and came in a genuine Sheaffer box with the white dot, with an instruction pamplet inside. It has a cartridge inside and a spare refill.
There are scratches on the pen where the coating is coming off. It was this that made me research it and discover that these pens were made in Japan for Sheaffer legitimately. The box also has a black ink blotch in the lid where the ink has leaked out.
Sailor and Sheaffer go back to after WW2 when Sheaffer helped out Sailor after the war. Sheaffer terminated their partnership with Sailor in late 80s or early 90's.

A very nicely constructed pen with a smooth and very fine nib -- great for getting a lot of information on a 3x5 card. I paid $60 plus shipping.This is a wonderful pen to use, I'd heartily recommend snapping one up, if you can find one for sale."
Markings: Sheaffer - Japan - on barrell. 'S' engraved on clip and infilled with black. M on nib
Condition-code standard for writing equipment -
FN = Fine. Visible surface scratches or dull finish. Signs of wear on the nib or light discolouration of the section or around filling lever or button filler. Clear signs of usage, but still a better than average pen.
As I am not a "pen" expert, these gradings are my personal opinion
