Shelley Art Deco tea set. Rare "Vogue" pattern introduced on 18 July 1930 and never repeated again. It came in a green and a yellow version too. The set for sale here consist of four trios, cake serving plate, milk jug and sugar bowl, all in mint condition. The cups have the typical clear "Shelley ring" to it. The metallic silver colour does not photograph well, but is in tact on all the items. In addition to the 15 pieces listed above there is a fifth and sixth trio. There is no visible damage or sign of repair, to the fifth trio, but the cup does not have a clear ring to it. (It rings, but not as clear as the four that are in mint condition). The saucer and cakeplate is however in perfect condition. There is also a sixth trio but the cup has a visible hairline crack and the cake plate as a small chip/dent on underside. This is rather a manufacturers imperfection than a chip as the mark is glazed over, Please see the photographs for more detail:
The Milk jug measures 85mm high and the sugar bowl 140mm across top rim.
The cake serving plate measures 250 x 210mm (including the "handles") (The grey mark visible on rim of the plate the photograph is a bit of "prestik" residue that has since taking the photo been removed)
The back stamps of the fith and sixth trios. The top cup has hairline crack. The bottom cup has no obvious imperfections but as explained does not have an as clear ring as the other four trios.
Note the small glazed over chip/dent/ manufacturer's imperfection on the underside of the cake plate of the sixth trio.
Note the hairline crack in the cup of the sixth trio.
