SHELLEY ART DECO

Lustreware

BOWL & LID

 !!!!! Scarce!!!!!

1916 - 1925 Pattern 8575 F

Lustre ware - pottery which is beautifully decorated and then covered with a thin layer of mother-of-pearl or metallic (gold or copper) glaze giving a special sheen to the applied surfaces.

Dimensions: 180 mm diameter at widest point x 110 mm to top of finial on the lid.

During his period with Shelley, Walter Slater was responsible for the introduction of many new & innovative designs, but will be remembered mostly for his beautiful Lustre Ware. Lustre ware is highly prized even today, especially some of the earlier pieces, which have no pattern number but are signed by Walter Slater.

Good condition with no cracks, crazing or repairs. It has a tiny chip on the inside lip of the bowl lid. Cannot be seen unless lid is off.

Sold as seen in the images.
