This is a genuine antique ( older than 100 years ). Very large and heavy Shorter & Son Earthenware Majolica Water Pithcer. Bottom is marked " Shorter & Sons, Stoke-on-Trent, England" and from this mark it is established that the item was made before between 1890 and 1910 ( Victorian ). Shorter and Sons is the company where Clarice Cliff started working in 1916 and was probably influanced by earlier pieces like this made by Shorter & Son.
