Your Laptop has to support built in 3g cards natively
Which will mean it will have a sim slot built in to the laptop motherboard.
Many new higher end Business & Consumer Laptops support this HSDPA card.
It is normally not fitted as standard - only as an expensive optional extra.

Check that your laptop satisfy's the conditions below
1. PCI-Express Mini Card Slot (Standard on most new Laptops)
2. Sim Card Slot (for your SIM card - you need a SIM card to connect!)
3. 3G Antenna wires - can be added if not there - check Google
4. May need BIOS unlocked (All IBM laptops need to unlock BIOS , not an easy job so think twice before doing!)
5. DELL/ASUS/HP/TOSHIBA laptops do not usually need to unlock BIOS
