Description

This 18-200mm lens is for Nikon DX digital SLRS only, ie Nikon DSLRs that use the APS-C size sensor format and gives a 35mm film equivalent focal length range of 27-300mm for a full range of coverage from extra wide to telephoto. The internal focussing system makes it easy to use a circular polariser as the front element does not rotate.

SLD?Special Low Dispersion?glass and three aspherical lenses provide excellent correction for all types of aberrations. The super multi-layer lens coating reduces flare and ghosting. High image quality is assured throughout the entire zoom range. This lens has a minimum focusing distance of 45cm (17.7”) at all focal lengths, and has maximum magnification of 1:3.9, making it usable for virtual close-up photography.

DC is for APS-C size cameras like Nikon DX cameras such as the D40, D80, D300

OS is for Optical Stabilisation

This system uses two sensors inside the lens to detect vertical and horizontal movement caused by camera shake. It responds by moving an optical image stabilising lens group, to effectively compensate for this movement allowing you to take sharp pictures at slower shutter speeds than normally possible. It also automatically detects when the camera is intentionally panning and then switches off compensation in that axis.

HSM is for Hyper-Sonic Motor

This lens uses a motor driven by ultrasonic waves to provide a quiet, highspeed AF.
