Hello! I'm selling my Sigma Lens, it is in pristine condition and has only been used a few times. I bought this when I was a student and photography was one of the courses, but I use it so very rarely I think it will be of much better use for someone else who enjoys photography. A carry case is included in the costs for safe storage of the lens. This lens has been very well looked after, has never been dropped and has no scratches on it. Pictures and more information on request, please don't hesitate to ask! :)
Additionally:
For an extra R250 I will include a Hoya 58mm CIR-Polarizing filter and a 58mm Cokin UV filter for the lens. These are high quality filters.
General information:
The Sigma 70-300mm ƒ/4-5.6 is an important economical competitor to the major manufacturers’ consumer telephoto zooms. It exists in two versions: with and without the APO designation. What we are dealing with now is APO version.
Apo version means that more than one super-low dispersion lens element has been used, and that it copes with the effects of chromatic aberration very well.
The 70-300mm ƒ/4-5.6 is designed to fill a 35mm frame, but functions properly on a reduced-frame sensor as well. It comes with a circular lens hood and lens pouch and is compatible with Sigma, Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax DSLR cameras.
The 70-300mm ƒ/4-5.6 shows high optical performance throughout the entire zoom range. But if you’re looking for excellent corner-to-corner sharpness across a wide range of focal lengths and apertures you won’t find it in the Sigma, as it does it best only when stopped down to ƒ/8 and ƒ/11. Vignetting is insignificant on sub-frames e.g. 20D, but there’s substantial corner darkening when mounted on a full-frame e.g. Canon 5D.
But cheer up - it offers an excellent macro mode between 200mm and 300mm, some of the best resistance to chromatic aberration in this category, flare and ghost reduction and an optimum color balance through the entire zoom range - all for a very reasonable price.
