AN ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT ITEM AND A RARE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER LUXURIOUS PIECE OF ART GLASS!
Born in England in 1960, David Reade began working with glass under master glassblower Michael Harris at Isle of Wight Studio Glass in 1977. He worked in Southern Ireland and the Isle of Wight for a period of seven years to learn his glassblowing and designing skills. David made Cape Town his home in 1984 and has been developing a style inspired by the deserts and mountains of Africa since 1991. He is considered by many as South Africa's leading glass artist.
* Height (with stopper) : 225 mm / Length of the stopper : 157 mm
* Diameter : 74 mm
* Weight: 833 g
* Please note that glass from the 20th century is vintage glassware and age related signs of wear such as small fine surface scratches/marks should be expected. The items are hand-made, they may have imperfections such as bubbles, inclusions and lumps within the glass. Tool marks from where they have been shaped and worked in the manufacturing process can often be seen. As this indicates authenticity and forms an inherent part of the character of handmade crystal glass, these are normally not considered as faults by collectors.
* This magnificent item is original South African hand-made David Reade art glass (and not Italian Murano, Daum, Kosta Boda, Orrefors, Flygsfors, Swarovski, Leerdam, Val St Lambert, Whitefriars or Lalique studio glass). I personally handpicked this beauty for my private collection. Sadly, with retirement now a reality, I am compelled to scale down and I hope that this beautiful object will provide its new owner with much joy. XKOBUIC3
