First Day Cover No. 1.5 & Collectors Sheet No. 1.5.5 of Former Homeland Ciskei.   Signed on the first day of issue by the artist that designed the stamps and FDC – The late Dick Findlay.

Dick Findlay was one of South Africa’s most famous Philatelic Artists that designed stamps in the 70’s, 80’s and early 90’s for RSA, SWA, and all of the Former Homelands.  His versatility is reflected in a variety of fine artwork including paintings of plants, proteas, butterflies, birds and small mammals.  Some of his most well known work include the 1977 RSA Protea 3rd Definitive Issue, both Venda & Ciskei’s First Definitive Issues ,  the SWA 1973 Succulents 2nd Definitive Issue ,  and the valuable 1974 SWA Rare Birds of Prey Issue.
