Hardcover first edition published 1964 by Simondium Publishers (Pty) Ltd. The jacket is whole, with wear and short tears to edges. There are two large patches on the front of the jacket, where labels had been removed, damaging the printed surface. The boards are clean and square, with lightly sunned extremities. The pages are clean and unmarked. Fold-out route map at the rear of the book is undamaged. Signed and dated dedication by Ian Player to author and The Star newspaper columnist James Clarke on the frontispiece page.
