The artwork by John Oatway depicts a skinned cow in a rural setting.  It measures 69 cm x 49.5 cm.  The image is described as an archival print on rag paper, number 1 of 15 and is signed in the lower right hand corner.  The photograph is unframed.

I bought the art work at a Stephan Welz &Co auction in 2015.  It is a conversation piece and certainly something very different.  It will be suitable for an office or a very modern home.

From his website (www.jamesoatway.com), a short biography:  James Oatway is a multiple award-winning,  independent South African photographer. The former Chief Photographer and Picture Editor of the Sunday Times newspaper, he has been freelancing since 2016. He has covered many important stories in South Africa and abroad, but has a special interest in telling under reported stories in Africa.  His work has been published in The GuardianThe New York Times, TIME, ScienceColorsParis-Match and others. He has been commissioned by various Non-Governmental Organisations such as: Open Society Foundation (OSF); Doctors Without Borders (MSF); One.org; Eastern Congo Initiative (ECI); Amnesty International; The Centre for Environmental Rights (CER); Oxfam and Action Aid among others. He has also worked with the WHO and the UNHCR.
