DUE TO THE HUGE INTEREST IN THIS CANVAS PRINT WE HAVE RELEASED ANOTHER PRINT ON BID OR BUY.

VETERAN SIGNED CANVAS ART PRINT NUMBER 41/50 IS UP FOR AUCTION

THE ACTUAL PRINT IS A LOT MORE CRISPER AND CLEARER THAN THE ABOVE PHOTO

March 2012 saw the Artist Dean Kelly teaming up with Old Brown Tees to start production on a painting commemorating the Battle of Cassinga.

The Battle of Cassinga was a South African airborne attack on a South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO) military base at the town of Cassinga, Angola on 4 May 1978. Conducted as one of the three major actions of Operation Reindeer during the South African Border War, it was the South African Defence Force’s (SADF) largest airborne assault to date.

As we planned the painting ahead, we decided to focus on the action around one of the Soviet Anti Aircraft guns and show the SADF capture of this fortification. With the assistance of Cassinga veterans' we arranged a photo shoot with attention to period uniforms and armaments. With the photo's at hand Dean had expert reference whilst painting. During the whole process there was constant reference to period photographs and veteran accounts.

‘Ex Alto Vinvimus’ was painted using oil on canvas.
There are only 200 prints available, of these only 50 were printed on canvas and EACH PRINT personally signed in pencil by Col Jan Breytenbach, General John Church, Capt. Tommie Lamprecht and the artist Dean Kelly.

VETERAN SIGNATORIES:

COL JAN BREYTENBACH, WAS THE PARACHUTE STRIKE FORCE COMMANDER DURING OPERATION REINDEER (THE AIRBORNE ASSAULT ON CASSINGA 4TH MAY 1978) WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PLANNING AND EXCECUTION OF THE AIRBOURNE ASSAULT ON CASSINGA.

GENERAL JOHN CHURCH, WAS THE HELICOPTER EXTRACTION COMMANDER WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EXTRACTION OF THE PARACHUTE STRIKE FORCE.

CAPT TOMMIE LAMPBRECHT, WAS THE D. COY COMMANDER WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE STOPPER GROUP AT THE ENGINEERING COMPLEX AND MADE THE FINAL ASSAULT ON THE ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUN EMPLACEMENT.
