We are offering here the biggest hoard of silver coins ever on Bid-or-Buy. The hoard weighs more than 2 kilograms and constitutes more than 1482 grams of pure silver (that is more than 52 ounces of pure silver!)

At a conservative figure of US$13.00 per ounce and R7 per dollar, the silver value of the collection alone is R4 732.00

The coins are all South African and range from the 1920s (George V) to the 1960s. There are 23 Crowns, 39 Silver Rands, 30 Half-Crowns, 28 Florins, 25 Shillings, 22 Sixpences and 51 Three-Pences. (The first decimal silver series are included in the Florin to Three-pence totals).

In total there are 218 Silver Coins!

Condition range from Proof (There are, for example, ten Proof Half-Crowns included) to Fair. Even some of the earlier George V silvers are in nice collectable condition.

So with a silver melting value of nearly R5 000.00, what is the true catalogue value? Five times that? Let's see by starting the bidding at R1 with a zero reserve.

Please see following pictures of part of the collection (the proof coins are not in the picture)…
