This Silver Denarius was minted in April - August 49 BC by Julius Caesar’s travelling military mint that accompanied him on his military conquests.
On the obverse is an elephant walking and trampling on a horned serpent (as the coin was struck off centre not all the detail are visible). Below that is the emblem "CAESAR".
On the reverse is an axe, priest hat, simpulum and sprinkler.
