A master crafted sterling silver entree dish by popular silversmith William Bateman. William Bateman I was the grandson of the renowned female silversmith Hester Bateman. William was taught by his father Jonathan Bateman and took over the business after his father's death. This magnificent entree dish has a graceful oval shape, with matching gadrooned borders on both the lid and the base. The lid has a cast silver handle which can be removed for cleaning. The handle is in the design of a branch and has lovely gadrooning that matches the base and lid.  An absolutely fantastic piece for the serious collector!
