Composed primarily of lead sulfide, it boasts a striking metallic sheen with well-formed, silver-grey cubic crystals that catch the light along their cleavage planes. Known as the primary ore of lead since ancient times, Galena from Kaokoveld is relatively rare, often found in ore veins alongside minerals like sphalerite and pyrite, or within sedimentary rocks where it replaces carbonate layers.
