SILVER-PLATED ORNATE "DUTCH TAVERN" FIGURAL ASHTRAY

DESCRIPTION A beautifully detailed SILVER-PLATED decorative ashtray featuring a classic "Dutch Tavern" genre scene. The central repoussé work depicts a lively rustic interior with musicians and peasants, surrounded by a sophisticated pierced (openwork) scrollwork border. This piece features four deep cigarette rests, making it as functional as it is decorative.

PROVENANCE & DESIGN This piece is a mid-20th century European export (likely Italian or Spanish, c. 19551975). It captures the 19th-century revival style that was immensely popular in barware and gentlemans smoking accessories. The scene is a tribute to traditional Dutch genre painting, executed via a mechanical die-press process typical of high-quality mid-century decorative silverplate.
