(that means 12 grams of pure silver per 15 gram coin).
The current silver price is R297.54 per ounce (oz) on 30 Nov 2012   -  see  http://www.goldprice.org/
                 31 grams = 1 oz
Therefore 12 grams = 0.39 oz
Therefore 0.39 oz =    0.39 x R297.54
                             =     R116.04 worth of silver per silver R1 coin
