Victorian Silver 'Rhodesian Regiment Rifle Ass.' Shooting Spoon (1900)
This fine quality, Boer War period, sterling silver spoon has been beautifully made with wonderful detail, in the form of a 'LEE-METFORD' rifle, with a fixed bayonet going into the bowl of the spoon. The bowl is engraved with the letters 'R.R.R.A.' (possibly for the 'Rhodesian Regiment' as they served in the Boer War). The spoon was made in London, England in 1900 by silversmiths 'Cornelius Saunders & Francis Shepherd' (CS* FS). It is in excellent condition with a nice weight of 18,3g and measures 12,4cm in length.
