Mendelssohn II, p. 320 [1905 printing]: At the end of the volume there are accounts of Cecil John Rhodes and Barney Barnato. These chapters bristle with misstatements; Rhodes is alluded to as Sir Cecil, and it is asserted that Barnato controlled upward of a billion dollars or £200,000,000, more than the combined wealth of the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, and Goulds. (Mr. B. Barnato's will was proved at under one million sterling.)
