MANUFACTURED BY SIMPSONS POTTERS LTD, COBRIDGE, UNDER THEIR SOLIAN WARE RANGE DIRECTLY AFTER 1944, THIS RARE PATTERN IS KNOWN AS THE QUEENS MAROON, ITS OFFICIAL TITLE BEING SIM 8. THE PATTERN WAS RELEASED IN THE QUEENS BLUE, QUEENS GREEN AND THE QUEENS MAROON BEFORE BEING DISCONTINUED. EITHER OF THESE COLOR RANGES RELEASED BY SIMPSONS POTTERS Ltd IS CONSIDERED RARE

THE PATTERN DISPLAYS A MAROON (ROUGE) BAND DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH THE RIM WITH GOLD FILIGREE LINEAR PATTERNS UNDERNEATH AND A SCALLOPED RIM WITH BALL MOTIF.

THE SOHO POTTERY Ltd, JOINTLY OWNED AND MANAGED BY BROTHERS SAMUEL AND THOMAS SIMPSON, CHANGED ITS NAME TO SIMPSONS POTTERS Ltd IN 1944. IN 1971 THE COMPANY WAS PURCHASED BY THE PFALTZGRAFF COMPANY OF YORK, PENNSYLVANIA, THE LARGEST STONEWARE MANUFACTURER IN THE USA. IN 1976 THE COMPANY ANNOUNCED THE END OF TABLEWARE PRODUCTION
