Artist history:

Born:  1949

Place:  Benoni, Gauteng

Eduction:  The artist attended the King Edward II High School in Benoni.  At an early age he started showing signs of great talent. He enrolled at the Jubilee Art School in Johannesburg after completing matric.  He was training by Ezrom Legae and Cecil Skotnes. The completed his training and became a professional artist, selling his artwork in the Gauteng area.

Exhibitions:  He took part in many group and one-man exhibitons.  One of the first exhibitions he took part in was at the Benoni Town hall under auspices of Carl's Jewellers.  He also held an exhibition at the Craig Art Gallery in Johannesburg.  In 1997 he had a one-man show at the Winstons African Art Gallery in Rosebank, Johannesburg.  During the same year he took part in a group exhibition conducted at Gallery 500, Capital Hill, Washington DC in conjunction with Winstons Afrtican Art. He had also exhibited with ABSA and Standard Bank.

Sipho's artwork has a very distincitive look and feel.  He is a successful contemporary artist and his work has been bought by a number of people and institutions.  You will find his artwork in the following collections:  The Standard Bank Collection, The SAEDF Collection,  The Martin Britz Collection, The Sanlam Art Collection, The ABSA Bank collection, The South African National Gallery and many more.
