1999. Soft cover, 121 pages. Very good condition. Tightly bound, neat and clean. Under 1kg.

This is "a liberal translation" of a book published in Afrikaans in 1959. It was a collection of a series of articles and broadcasts by Tommy Carse, who was a local police officer and a pillar of the society in Kalkbaai. It is of historical importance as these fishing communities are eroding with time and competition.

++++

"It is 40 years since the publication of Die Bloudam is hul Oesland and the book has been out of print for decades. This re-publication in English makes available again an important account of one of the original Cape fishing communities, many of whose descendents still live in Kalk Bay and still fish from the harbour."
