The badge consists of the embellished arms of the town of Uitenhage, granted by Jacobus Abraham Uitenhage de Mist, in 1804. The cross moline on a shield is from his personal arms. The whole is surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves on the (heraldic) left and laurel leaves on the (heraldic) right, with a crest consisting of a lion statant on a Dutch crown. Below is a scroll with the words “Uitenhage Rifles”.
White metal slouch hat badge, Owen 297, 61 mm x 48 mm, worn 1897 – 1902, crest voided.
