Small Ceramic Casserole Dish

A fine example of South Africa studio ceramics. This piece carries no maker's mark, but the knowledgeable Justin Kerrod guesses it to be from Izandla Pottery (Umtata). Measuring 20cm at the widest point across the handles, this piece has excellent proportions and weight-to-size, and is an excellent example of South African studio ceramics in the Anglo-Japanese tradition that swept the western world  several decades ago. A lovely thing!
