Hardcover, 168 pages, no dj, 190 x 127mm wide.

Pub:Victor Gollancz Ltd, 1943. First published July 1943 - this book is the third impression printed November 1943.

The pages are darkly tanned with heavy foxing. Binding good - no loose pages. No internal inscriptions. There is an original receipt of purchase pasted on the inside of the back cover - see photo - bought by a Miss Thomson from the CNA in East London for one pound seven & six on the 21 April 1944. Cloth cover is soiled with bumping and wear. Still very readable.

Campbell fills in the picture, and shows us a country dangerously near to civil war. Campbell believes that the Nationalists will carry the secession issue if and when they get the chance - and that chance will come, at latest, the moment the post-war slump hits South Africa....As this very brief description shows, SMUTS AND SWASTIKA is packed with information about the really burning questions of the day in South Africa.
