Alexander Oxlade-Chamberlain is an English footballer who plays winger for both Arsenal and the England national football team.  He first rose to prominence with Southhampton, playing as a 17 year old in the 2010-11 season, before joining Arsenal the next year.  With Arsenal, he became the youngest English goal scorer in the history of the UEFA Champions League, and became a regular on England’s Under-21 team.  He’s earned the nickname “Ox” – not just for his name, but for the powerful playing style and physical tenacity he regularly displays.

He made his Arsenal dispute as a substitute in an 8-2 loss at Manchester United on 28 August 2011, becoming the 150th man to represent Arsenal in the premier league.  He scored his first goal for the team in a League Cup match against Shewsbury Town the next month, on 20 September 2011.  It was his performance in the UEFA Champions League that drew the most critical acclaim – former Arsenal captain Robin van Persie described him as the future for both Arsenal and England.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made his debut for the senior England side on 26 May 2012, a 1-0 win against Norway.  He was a surprise addition to the England squad for Euro 2012, making him the second youngest player ever to represent England in the Euros.

He was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year after his first season in the Premier League and, although he did not win, seems set to be a key player in English football for years to come.
