Sodium Lactate (60%) 1L can also be used as a hardening agent in soap making, which can help to create a harder, longer-lasting bar soap.

Sodium Lactate (60%) - 1L

Sodium Lactate is a key ingredient in cold process soapmaking, known for its ability to create harder, longer-lasting bars of soap with excellent lather and moisturizing properties. However, it's important to handle sodium lactate with care, as it is a strong salt solution. This product contains a 60% sodium lactate solution, with the remaining 40% being water.

How to Use Sodium Lactate in Cold Process Soapmaking

1. Adding Sodium Lactate to Lye Solution
To use sodium lactate, start by adding it to the cooled lye solution. Wait until the lye solution has reached room temperature, then incorporate sodium lactate into the mixture. Stir until fully dissolved, ensuring the solution is homogeneous before mixing it with your oils.

2. Recommended Usage Rate
The ideal usage rate of sodium lactate is between 1-3% of the total oil weight in your recipe. This amount provides the perfect balance for achieving the desired hardness and longevity in the soap without compromising its quality.

3. Stirring the Soap Mixture
Once the sodium lactate is dissolved into the lye solution, add the solution to the oils and stir the mixture thoroughly. Continue stirring until the soap batter reaches trace. At this stage, the batter should be thick enough to leave a trail when you drizzle it back into the pot.

4. Pouring and Curing
After reaching trace, pour the soap batter into your molds. Allow the soap to cure for several weeks to ensure it hardens properly. The addition of sodium lactate helps create a firmer bar of soap that lasts longer and performs better over time.

Benefits of Sodium Lactate in Soapmaking

By incorporating sodium lactate into your soap recipes, you'll achieve a harder bar that retains moisture and produces a rich, creamy lather. It also improves the overall quality of the soap, making it more durable and pleasant to use. This makes sodium lactate a valuable addition to any cold process soapmaker's toolkit.

Sodium Lactate (60%) can significantly enhance the texture and durability of your cold process soap. Follow the instructions carefully to ensure optimal results, and enjoy the benefits of a high-quality, long-lasting soap.
