This unusual tea infuser spoon was made in the Sola factory in Zeist in the Netherlands.

It was made in1952 to commemorate the 300 years since Jan Van Riebeeck arrived at the Cape of Good Hope. The spoon is in its original lined box. Both the spoon and the box are in a good condition There is a tag in the lid of the box that says the design was registered to the Flemish Linen House (see photographs).

The spoon handle features the dates 1652-1952 and an embossed image with Table Mountain and the Cape Town harbour with three ships sailing into the harbour. The Verenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie (VOC) logo appears close to the neck of the spoon. On the reverse side of the spoon handle there is a stamp E Sola 90.

I am not an expert and mistakes made with the description is not intentional.
