Krill are tiny shrimp-like species found in the icy waters of the Antarctic. They are at the bottom of the food chain, and therefore do not accumulate heavy metals like fish do, making them naturally low in heavy metals and other toxins. Krill oil contains the best EPA and DHA forms of omega-3s, bound to phospholipids, not to triglyceride fats found in standard omega-3s from fish oil. This improves bioavailability and effectiveness, meaning lower doses can be used. These omega-3s are important for heart, brain and immune system health.
