SOLID BRASS DANISH PULL BELL ~ QUAINT SHOP OWNERS BELL
Vintage solid cast brass Danish bell with a leaf and flower pattern
The bell dates c. 1900 – 1940
Model: M2649
This is a bell from which a bell pull is hung
It can also be re-configured to emulate a shop owner’s door bell which sounds when a patron walks in ~ like the modern door chime
BELL PULL
It is fitted with a spring at the back and chain to a small arm from the bell
Long, thin tapestry is hung from the hook by the tapestry hanger
Tapestry is the traditional hanger, though a variety of pull ropes with elaborate detail can also be used
The bell is a small unit but accommodates various sizes and weight of pendants ~ it has a sizable hole at the top of the back plate for a wall screw
A stronger spring can be fitted for a heavier pendant
The spring and chain mechanism behind the bell are loosely fit for ease of dismantling and replacing the spring

THE QUAINT SHOP OWNER’S DOOR BELL
The bell is re-configured so that the arm is hooked to the brass plate
It is hung on the inside of the door ~ mounted at the top of the entrance door to announce the arrival of a customer
The bell does not swing - it rings by motion of the striker when the door is pushed open or pulled close
