A large solid silver dessert spoons by Cape silversmith William Moore. He was an active and respected silversmith from 1840 to 1863. The spoon has the fiddle handle design. The hallmark stamps are clear and indicate the makers mark WM, with the other Cape stub marks of the period, including the stub mark with the lion passant, a gothic capital A, smiling leopards head and Queen Victoria duty mark. The spoon is still in good condition, well used, with a weight of 60 gram and 21 cm in length.
