'In 1991, the Department of Environment Affairs allocated research funds to the author for a detailed survey of the rock paintings in the Cederberg and Groot Winterhoek Wilderness Areas so that a record of sites could be kept and management guidelines could be drawn up for Cape Nature Conservation and Museums. In collaboration with Stephen Townley Bassett, who was responsible for the field surveys and recording of the paintings, 90 sites were found in the Cederberg Wilderness Area and 7 were recorded in the Groot Winterhoek Wilderness Areas. ...

... This book summarizes the results of the survey and draws on information from other people and institutions who have worked in the Cederberg area in general. ...'
