Want dis wat Bertus Benade vir haar was sedert haar man se dood. Op sy broer se versoek het hy hom oor Carina ontferm. Toe vra sy hom om weg te gaan, om haar ruimte te gee. En skielik loop sy haar teen 'n rots vas, 'n harde, koue Bertus. Ondeurdringbaar.

Hoe kon sy so kortsigtig wees en haar lewensanker vernietig? Hoe kon sy nie besef het juis dié man is haar vesting, die een wat sy liefhet nie? Nou dobber sy net. Alleen.
