Now that very affordable 10GbE switches with RJ45 (copper) are available, the cost of setting up a 10GbE infrastructure has been significantly reduced. The problem is, most computers aren't equipped to get you connected. If you have a Mac® with Thunderbolt 2 or Thunderbolt ports, or any Windows® or Linux® computer with a Thunderbolt 2 port, Sonnet has a simple solution the Twin10G.
Connect to 10GbE Infrastructure
This Sonnet solution is perfect for high-performance computing where low latency, high bandwidth, and low CPU overhead are required. Its increased throughput performance and low host-CPU utilization are achieved with stateless offloads, allowing your computer to perform better while large files transfers or high I/O operations take place.
Small and Quiet
Measuring just 10.16cm wide, by 20.9cm long, x 6.9cm high, the Twin10G is small enough to easily fit in most workspaces. To ensure its operation doesn't get in the way, the adapter's temperature-controlled, variable-speed fan keeps the device running cool and whisper-quiet at all times, making it suitable for use in noise-sensitive environments.
Simple Configuration, Advanced Features
The Twin10G is easy to set up after connecting to your computer, download and install drivers, and then configure it through the macOS® or OS X® Network control panel, Windows Device Manager, or Linux command line (or graphical utility). Further configuration enables you to activate its advanced features: link aggregation (teaming) of its two 10GbE ports increases throughput beyond what a single connection can sustain; transparent failover between 10GbE ports keeps your computer connected in case a single cable is disconnected or one of the ports fails; and jumbo packet (jumbo frame) support can increase throughput and reduce CPU utilization.
20Gbps Thunderbolt 2 Interface
The Twin10G features a dual-port 20Gbps Thunderbolt 2 interface that offers ample bandwidth to support the adapter's high performance, supports daisy-chaining of up to five additional Thunderbolt peripheral devices to a single port on your computer, and includes support for connecting a 4K video monitor. The Twin10G is also compatible with older Mac computers with 10Gbps Thunderbolt.

Sonnet includes a 1-meter Thunderbolt 2 cable and a Sonnet ThunderLok Thunderbolt connector retainer clip to prevent accidental cable disconnections just slide it over one end of the cable, and then plug in the connector and secure it to the chassis by turning a thumbscrew. Because of its unique design, ThunderLok remains on the cable so it won't get lost when not in use.
