Design and Ergonomics
Its magnesium and aluminium alloy body feels solid and it has an ergonomic grip on the shutter button side. A quick navigation button makes it fast and easy to change settings through the menu. Round the back you’ll find a large 3 inch LCD for better previewing.
Picture Quality
At 12 megapixels, the CMOS sensor will produce poster size prints at normal resolution. With on-chip analogue to digital conversion, the A700 also delivers good noise reduction.
Performance Features
Auto-exposure is situationally adjustable with spot, centre-weighted and a 40 segment multi-segment pattern. The camera has a highly accurate and very fast 11 point autofocus selectable on to a single point, a wide area and a local area. Added to this, flash users will be encouraged by the 1/250th of a second synchronisation speed.
Image stabilisation is built into the camera with a CCD-shift system that allows you to shoot sharp pictures at shutter speeds up to 4 stops lower than possible without image stabilisation. A good feature for indoor portraiture and party pics. The advantage of this system is that your lenses are also automatically image stabilised. The CCD shift system along with an anti-static coating on the sensor work together to keep dust off image sensor.
Sports and action photography is made easier with a high 3200 ISO (light sensitivity), expandable to 6400 ISO combined with 5 frames per second shooting for up to 17 frames RAW + JPEG and unlimited for JPEG alone.
