Observed fault:

The camera enters recording mode and responds to playback commands, however recorded footage does not play back through the LCD screen, electronic viewfinder or AV output connection.

Observed testing:

The camera powers on correctly using the supplied Sony AC-L100 mains power adaptor.

The supplied Sony NP-FM30 battery accepts charge and powered the camera during testing. Battery operating life has not been assessed.

The LCD screen functions and displays camera menus, settings and live image.

The electronic viewfinder functions and displays camera menus, settings and live image.

The camera responds to controls on both the camera body and the supplied Sony remote control.

Tape transport functions respond, including record, play, rewind and fast-forward operations.

The camera displays a live image through both the LCD screen and electronic viewfinder when pointed at a subject.

The camera produces picture and sound output when connected to a television using the AV output connection.

The camera enters recording mode and displays the REC indicator during recording attempts.

After recording and rewinding the tape, recorded footage could not be played back through the LCD screen, electronic viewfinder or television connection.

Memory Stick functionality could not be fully tested because no Sony Memory Stick media is included. When switched to Memory mode the camera correctly detects the absence of media and displays the message "NO MEMORY STICK".

The camera is in generally good cosmetic condition for its age, with normal signs of handling and use. Controls, switches and buttons appear present and respond during testing.
