Design and Ergonomics
A slim 26.5mm thick, this metal body compact is just about pocket fitting with an easy button layout that places the scene modes on a rotary dial. Typical functions are all accommodated with buttons, leaving little to do within the menu to adjust settings. The LCD is 2.5 inches wide.
Picture Quality and Lens
With 7.2 megapixels you can get an 8x10 inch print at full resolution with greater enlargement possible to achieve high quality poster size prints. The 3 times Sony optical zoom is a 35mm film equivalent to 35-105mm, which will give you a perspective from standard wide angle to short telephoto for small group pictures and portraits. It also has a 6 times digital zoom and up to 14 times smart zoom which is just a digital zoom that doesn’t degrade picture quality by lowering the resolution instead. Autofocusing accuracy is enhanced with a 5 point autofocus system.
You can shoot bursts of a few frames with a 0.8 second interval between shots. This camera is also capable of a highest ISO setting of 1250, which will aid shooting in dusk/dawn dim light conditions without flash.
Key Features
Face Detection auto focus and auto exposure is also a great feature for avoiding those blown out or under-exposed party pics. When this setting is selected, the camera detects faces in the scene and exposes and focuses for them. A High Sensitivity setting can be used in dim light or action situations to enhance the ISO sensitivity of the automatic setting for sharper results. Included scene modes: Twilight / Twilight Portrait / Soft Snap / Landscape / Beach / Snow / High Sensitivity, make it easy to get optimal results to suit these shooting conditions. It is also equipped with a QVGA movie mode that takes 30 frames per second videos at 320x240 pixel resolution which is suitable for posting to the web.
A macro mode allows close-up focussing from 5cm away.
