Design and Ergonomics
With compact dimensions of just 116.1x81.4x86.0mm and weighing 574g, the H20 is not quite handbag size, but is comfortable to use. An ergonomic bulge on the shutter button side aids handling, and images are viewable on the 3 inch tilting LCD.
Picture Quality and Lens
With 9.1 megapixels you can get just over 8x10 inch print at full resolution with greater enlargement possible to achieve high quality poster size prints. The 15 times Carl Zeiss optical zoom is a 35mm film equivalent to 31-465mm, which will give you a perspective from a touch over standard wide angle to full telephoto for small group pictures and good portraits and court-based sports.
It also has a 30 times digital zoom and a Bionz processor that produces smooth colour tones and enhanced with Double Anti-blur technology for right, fine detailed shooting.
This camera is also capable of a high 3200 ISO for better lowlight photography.
Key Features
Face Detection auto focus and auto exposure is also a great feature for avoiding those blown out or under-exposed party pics. When this setting is selected, the camera detects faces in the scene and exposes and focuses for them. This camera also has a smile mode that detects when your subjects are smiling and will automatically take the picture only when they do. Sharp and well exposed pictures is achieved through the double anti-blur technology, which is a combination of high 3200 ISO (light sensitivity) and optical image stabilisation.
To achieve sharp pictures the camera can boost the ISO (light sensitivity) setting so that it can shoot at a higher shutter speed, or it can initiate the mechanical image stabilisation system which physically moves the inside of the camera to respond to camera shake allowing sharp pictures even under slow shutter speeds. In combination, these features allow the sharp capture of images at full resolution that other cameras without this technology simply cannot. In exposure the result is that your camera allows more of the natural light in the scene to expose through so less flash is needed & avoiding the pictures of faces against black backgrounds normally seen in cameras without this technology.
The macro function allows you to take pictures of objects from as close as 1 cm away for true close-up photography.
The H50 has 10 shooting modes, including smile shutter mode, and a video recording mode
