With the release of the HDR-SR1E, Sony appears to be monopolising the high-definition field in the digital consumer camcorder market. Lightweight and compact, this latest HD camcorder from Sony records onto its 30GB integrated hard disk and is also switchable between HD and SD modes, giving you more freedom to choose.

Incredibly versatile, the SR1E features a variety of recording modes which includes a new super-quality ‘XP’ mode with a 15mbps bit-rate. The camcorder’s hard disk can hold up to 4 hours of exclusive XP-quality HD video, which will stun all with immaculate image quality. Your amazing footage can be clearly displayed and shared on the massive 3.5” Clear Photo LCD Plus screen, which also guarantees simple navigation through menu options.

The SR1E boasts One Touch Disc Burn which makes transferring to disc so much easier and faster. The Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens delivers richer colour and finer detail, and its special T coating is designed to dramatically reduce flare. The camera uses a ClearVid CMOS sensor which can capture 4-mega pixel stills and it processes faster than a CCD. Also featuring Sony’s HDD Smart Protection System, which employs physical shock absorbers and a 3G sensor that can detect a fall, the SR1E is durable and always ready for action.
