Ames Amber Sorghum is an outstanding sorghum variety originally developed from Early Amber by the Agricultural Experiment Station for the production of syrup.

Its heads hold seeds that mature to a rich brown colour within shiny black hulls. Some seeds lose their covering during cleaning. Ames Amber Sorghum produces a beautiful clear amber syrup from the stem in large quantities which can be boiled down and utilized as a sugar or syrup substitute in many ways.
