Because of their size and female shape, the seeds/nuts of the Lodoicea have been highly prized for centuries (as they still are today) and their rarity caused great interest and high prices in Royal Courts (originally thought to grow on mythical trees at the bottom of the sea). Endemic to the Seychelles the Lodoicea produces the largest seed in the plant kingdom. There are only about 7000 trees in the Seychelles and the harvesting is strictly controlled by the government. This particular work of natural art is in very good, polished condition with remarkable resemblance to the female form - 15cm x 12cm x 8cm. Refer images
