💬 Description:

A classic South African Reserve Bank issue from the first decimal series (19611965), featuring Jan van Riebeeck, founder of the Cape Colony, on the obverse.

The reverse shows the Dromedaris ship one of the three vessels that brought Van Riebeeck to the Cape in 1652 sailing under full mast.
This note replaced the old £5 note when South Africa adopted the Rand currency system in 1961.

Printed in green with intricate guilloche patterns, this early decimal-era note remains a historically significant and highly collectible piece of South African currency heritage.
