The 2002 edition of The South African Coin and Banknote Catalogue valued this series at R1735.00

1947 - 1964 Complete set of 5 shillings

 

No Crowns were required for circulation in 1959 due to sufficient mintage in prevoius yearsbut at the request of numismatic societies a small quantity was produced to maintain the series.

The mintage for the 1959 5 Shillings was 6139 coins only.
