South African Airways Tinplate Props and Advertising Toy Aircraft - Rare Collectors Items.

Both of these models were commissioned by  South African Airways to be manufactured in Japan. Some were used as props and a limited number were allocated for sale to the public.

The 727, (pictures on  the right) is a scale model of the Limpopo (ZS-UYM)  was  manufactured totally out of tin during the 1960's.

The 747, (pictures on the left) also a scale model was manufactured out of tin and plastic during the 1970's. It is missing its vertical tail fin and one of the engine supports were broken and glued back on.

It was on display as props at the SAA offices in Pretoria for a long time.

Both these models are very scarce as only a limited number were issued.

A very worthwhile buy for any Airways and tin toy collector.
