Very good condition but with wear to spine extremities. Binding solud,  The personal copy of the author, Kenneth Hall-Gardner , who has bound each volume together in woven brown cloth with stenciled title on front board ( CH for CT ).   He has also tipped in a photocopy of an article printed in 1974 showing the Cape Town Civic Centre as it was eventually built, with the hand written comment "30 years later they built it - not very differently ". Made  up of of four sections in the South African Architectural Record. Jan. Feb. 1944. City Government. A Critical Study of the Machinery and Princples of Local Self-Government with Special Reference to Capetown. .March. Apr. 1944. The City Hall. Architectural Research and Programme for Design ( parts 1 and 2 ). May 1944. A City Hall for Capetown. Planning Aesthetics Acoustics. The plan depicted  by Gardner does seem to predict the eventual City Hall design by decades in some respects.
