Sheila was born in 1936 and educated at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland, where she graduated with the highest marks in the country.
She moved to South Africa with her family in 1967, and fell in love with the countryside and the wildlife, which often featured in her artwork. Sheila became internationally renowned for her work, particularly in classical watercolour, with pieces in exhibitions world wide, and published in a number of books.
She was also the recipient of a number of local and international accolades.
She was one of the founding members of the Vereeniging Art Society, and in 1972 became its
first chairlady.
Sheila was commissioned to create a painting which was presented to F.W. de Klerk, and another to officially represent Vereeniging.
She was a well-known art teacher who introduced many people, young and old, to art.
She started giving art classes around 40 years ago and during a previous interview in 2019 said that she cannot stop giving classes as the students accomplishments, development and changes in techniques keeps her excited.
